Charles Edward Santos – Chief Executive Officer

Charles has more than 30 years of experience in political and commercial negotiations in West Africa, the Middle East and Central, South and East Asia. For ten years at the United Nations, Charles concentrated on special political and security issues. He served as Special Advisor to four Under-Secretary-Generals and was the Deputy Head and Political Advisor to UN Peace missions in Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

In the mid-1990s, Charles led commercial negotiations in Afghanistan on the Turkmen-Afghan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline for a consortium of international energy companies led by Unocal.  In 2001-2002, Charles advised key US and regional officials and leaders on political, strategic, and energy issues in Central Asia. In 2003, Charles led the funding, development and construction of a 5000 bbls/day oil refinery for stranded oil fields in Northern Afghanistan.  In 2006, Charles led negotiations in Chad on the development of an integrated refining/stranded oil field project. From 2009 to 2011, Charles developed and negotiated the farm-in of key gas assets in the region. From 2011 until 2015, Charles served as Chairman of the Steering Committee (a joint investor government body in Uzbekistan of a major gas project) and was Chairman of the Operations Committee. Since 2006, Charles has been pursuing integrated gas projects in Southeast Asia.

Philip Thompson - Chief Operating Officer

Philip has over 35 years of experience in the upstream energy business, covering general management, geophysics, and new ventures. He has worked for Exxon, Oryx Energy (now part of Occidental), and Vanco Energy (Africa focused private company). Philip founded San Leon Energy in 2002, listing the company on the London AIM market in 2008. San Leon concentrated on oil and gas exploration in Africa and Europe, achieving considerable shareholder returns between 2008 and 2011.

In 2011 Philip established Canyon Oil & Gas Ltd, an Africa and Europe-focused company. Aminex PLC acquired Canyon in 2014. Philip was the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Aminex. Philip led the exploration effort that resulted in the successful Ntorya-2 gas discovery in Tanzania, significantly increasing the Aminex's market value.

Kjell-Åke Nordquist – Senior Advisor

Kjell-Åke Nordquist is professor of international relations with a long-standing experience in negotiation and peace processes in Timor-Leste, Colombia and various countries of the Middle East where he has facilitated peace negotiations and reconciliation efforts.  He is a member of the Board of Trustees at the German Foundation Berghof Stiftung, Berlin.
